Thailand imposes measures to guard against bird flu

Thailand's Livestock Department has confirmed that no cases of bird flu has been reported in the country and has banned poultry imports from Cambodia. The department recently imposed strict measures on transferring of poultry between borders and from neighbouring countries after reports of bird flu in Burma, China, Vietnam, Indonesia and Cambodia. Preecha Somboonprasert, Director General of Livestock Department, warned Thai farmers to be vigilant and implement strict vaccine programs and follow farm bio-security strongly as the risk is presently high.
